Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, has been conserved within the area of 1x3sq.miles and this area consists of following peculiarities.

The Sacred Garden

Within the sacred garden there exists Mayadevi Temple that was built marking a place of birth of Lord Buddha. The “ Marker Stone” situated within this temple pinpoints the exact birth spot of Lord Buddha. Nearby the Mayadevi Temple, there is a historical pillar, erected by Emperor Asoka in 249 B.C. which signifies birthplace of Lord Buddha and just behind the Mayadevi temple there is holy pond “Puskarini” where Maya Devi bathed just before giving birth to prince Siddhartha.

Monastic Zone

This zone consists of various monasteries made by different countries. The designs, architecture, paintings of these monasteries are magnificent and mesmerizing.

Cultural Center

This zone consists of information center, a research center, a library, an auditorium and a museum which provide information related Lord Buddha to the visitors and researchers. Beside these, your Lumbini visit is never complete without visiting Kapilavastu site(Ancient capital of Shakya Kingdom) which is located about 27km west of Lumbini and near about this site, there are other various spectacular historical areas related with Gautam Buddha.
